My Approach to Treating Patients

My goal is to guide each patient, regardless of age and athletic goal, into the best, individualized treatment program that will allow a rapid return to a healthy, active, and pain-free lifestyle. I believe that successful outcomes are the result of treating every patient as an equal partner. Each individual has different goals and needs. While some orthopedic injuries are best treated with surgery, many can be solved with noninvasive or minimally invasive techniques, and physical therapy. I treat every patient as an athlete whether his or her goal is to finish a specific race, simply hike or swim, or compete at a professional level.

I went to Piers for breaks in my arm. He is an extremely knowledgeable person that is so personable and takes the time with his patients. His patient care is straight forward and solid, couldn’t have asked for something better than the service he provides. My diagnosis was discussed and even gave me several avenues to take. This is a doctor who actually cares for patients and is there to truly help. I highly reccomend Piers, coming from someone that needs to possibly live in the doctors office. Joking aside, I couldn’t be happier since i found someone as solid as this doctor.

This doctor is fabulous. He listens, takes his time explaining the details of the injury and treatment options. He doesn’t jump to “needing surgery” as first line of treatment. I would highly recommend seeing him if you are looking for an orthopedic surgeon. I shattered a part of my radial head (bone connecting the forearm to the elbow) and need work done on my elbow. We are trying physical therapy for two weeks to see if we can work on full range of motion to prevent surgery. Great, personable doctor.

Dr. Barry has been helping me with a bad shoulder for over a year. Taking me through well guided stages of trying therapy and cortisone treatment to hold off surgery. He was very good about helping me judge what I could improve and not improve and when to decide it was time for surgery. I at last had him do the surgery in January. I am feeling great today! I have complete confidence and trust for Dr. Barry. He exudes confidence and a lot of knowledge. A visit is often an eye-opening lesson in physiology.  And he is very positive. His smile brightens the room.
